PERMIT TO CARRY

This one-day course covers the information required to obtain a permit to carry a pistol in the State of Minnesota. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certificate that meets the statutory requirements to apply for a permit to carry at their county Sheriff's Department. The course consists of both classroom instruction and shooting range time.

Target Audience

This course is designed for students who wish to obtain or renew a permit to carry in the State of Minnesota.

Course of Fire

Participants will fire approximately 30 rounds during a live-fire qualification.

50 rounds of factory ammunition

A gun belt and holster is NOT required for this course but please note the ammunition and eye protection requirements at the link below.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private Handgun Lessons are designed for beginners, experienced shooters, individuals seeking remedial training, and anyone looking to elevate their shooting skills. These personalized lessons focus on the scientific application of the fundamentals under the watchful eye of a skilled instructor, ensuring that any shooting errors are corrected effectively and quickly. Years of difficulty achieving accuracy with a gun are often corrected in one session.

Target Audience

This course is suitable for beginners, experienced shooters, those seeking remedial training, and anyone wanting to enhance their shooting proficiency.

Course Content

Participants will receive customized instruction on:

Understanding the natural alignment of skeletal structure for an effective stance

Proper hand position and power grip techniques to manage recoil

Establishing and correcting visual acuity in sight alignment and sight picture

Controlling the fire control mechanism for improved speed and accuracy

Course of Fire

Participants will engage in multiple drills and exercises that are proven to foster shooting excellence.

A serviceable firearm in good working order

200 rounds of factory ammunition

Eye and ear protection (active hearing protection encouraged)

Initial Session last 1.5 hours

Each additional session lasts for 1 hour.

BASIC DEFENSIVE PISTOL

This one-day course is an introduction to fighting with a pistol. Upon successful completion, students will be able to safely engage a single human silhouette target at reality based defensive distances. The course covers fundamentals of stance, hand position, proper grip, sight alignment, sight picture, and trigger compression in depth. Additionally, holster selection, carry positions, and defensive ammunition considerations will be discussed.

Target Audience

This course is designed for beginners who have a Permit to Carry (CCW).

Course Content

Participants will receive comprehensive instruction on:

Fundamentals of stance and hand position

Proper grip and sight alignment

Trigger compression techniques

Holster selection and carry positions

Concealed carry considerations

Defensive ammunition considerations

Live and dryfire skill builder drills

Course of Fire

Participants will fire approximately 250 rounds and engage in various drills to build defensive competency.

ADVANCED DEFENSIVE PISTOL

This one-day course picks up where Basic Defensive Pistol left off, diving deeper into how to fight with a pistol. Upon successful completion, students will be able to safely draw a pistol from concealment and effectively engage multiple human silhouettes. Emphasis will be placed on achieving accurate hits on specific areas of the silhouettes for maximum effect on target. Human anatomy will be discussed in detail, along with practical considerations of the efficacy of defensive handgun ammunition, shot placement, and terminal ballistics.

Target Audience

This course is designed for students who have completed Introduction to Defensive Pistol or have received prior instructor approval.

Course Content

Participants will receive comprehensive instruction on:

- Advanced techniques for drawing from concealment

- Engaging multiple targets quickly and accurately

- Understanding human anatomy for effective shot placement

- Considerations for defensive handgun ammunition and terminal ballistics

Participants will fire approximately 500 rounds and engage in various drills to build competency.

BASIC DEFENSIVE RIFLE

This one-day course focuses on the AR-15, the most popular defensive rifle in the United States. While other rifles are welcome, the training will primarily utilize the semi-automatic AR-15 with 30-round capacity magazines.

Target Audience

This course is designed for armed citizens in a defensive role, making it ideal for both beginners and those with limited experience in rifle handling.

Course Content

Participants will receive comprehensive instruction on:

Nomenclature and parts of the AR-15

Accessories, slings, and optics

Ammunition selection

Safe operation, cleaning, and maintenance of the AR-15 and similar rifles

Students will learn to sight in their rifles using iron sights, red dots, or other optical sights, with detailed guidance on specific sighting distances.

Course of Fire

Participants will fire approximately 500 rounds and engage in multiple shooting drills from various distances and positions. Drills will cover:

Stance improvement for accuracy

Emergency reloads

Engaging multiple targets

Malfunction clearances

Proper grip and trigger cycling

Individual movement and coordinated movement with a partner

Equipment Requirements

Students must bring:

An AR-15 (or other semi-automatic) rifle

Three 30-round magazines with a method to carry them

Eye and ear protection (active hearing protection recommended)

A baseball-style cap

Optional: elbow and knee pads
